Project - Civil Engineering Laboratory Qualifications
Development of National Qualifications In 2008 a needs analysis project undertaken by InfraTrain New Zealand highlighted the sector need and interest in national qualifications to recognise the skills and knowledge of technicians, senior technicians and laboratory managers in the Civil Engineering Laboratory sector. This is the next stage of development concentrating on National Certificates for technicians and senior technicians. Further work is being done on the area of generic management skills, which with specialisation will cover the laboratory management area – watch the InfraTrain website for more information on that project. A group of respected sector representatives have met collectively and in specialist sector groups over the past few months to develop the material, but before they go to NZQA for registration, there is one important question to be answered? What do you think of it? We would like you to take five minutes (but you’re welcome to look deeper) to let us know what you think of what has been developed. Firstly look at the overview, as it will give you an idea of the structure and interrelationships between the Technician and Senior Technician qualifications. It will also show the specialisations available. Secondly have a look at the detailed requirements of the areas you are interested in. Finally tell us what you think on the feedback page. There are online and electronic options available to make it easy. We have a questions and answers section which we’ve started and will update with questions received during the consultation.
