  1. Overview

This qualification would be registered at Level 3 on the National Qualifications Framework with an estimate of 120 credits and be expected to take between 18 months and 2 years to complete.

This is a review of the National Certificate in Infrastructure Works (Infrastructure Pipelaying) with an optional strand in Gas Distribution Pipelaying.  The package and units have been considered by the combined industry advisory group for reactive maintenance and new infrastructure pipelaying sectors and feedback provided.

Excavation and Reinstatement has been removed from the package as this is covered by the National Certificate in Infrastructure Works (Excavation and Reinstatement) (Level 3) package.

The core qualification has 17 compulsory units totalling 123 credits, the elective component requires a balance of 18 credits taken from the options listed.

Please note the core compulsory credit total is likely to drop due to the review of unit standard the 23282, Install pipes and their fittings for infrastructure pipelaying. See the section on unit standard review for more information.

The registered version of most units are available from the NZQA website. Draft units have a code e.g. QA1 this can be viewed on the unit standard review page.
