  1. Overview

This qualification would be registered at level 4 on the National Qualifications Framework with a minimum of 81 credits and be expected to take just over a year to complete. The optional utilities, water and wastewater endorsements are an additional 22 to 26 credits requiring approximately an extra 4 months to complete.

This is a review of the National Certificate in Water Reticulation (Level 3) with strands in Water, and Wastewater. The package and units have been considered by the combined industry advisory group for reactive maintenance and new infrastructure pipelaying sectors and feedback provided.

Excavation and reinstatement has been removed from the package as this is covered by the new National Certificate in Infrastructure works (Excavation and Reinstatement) (Level 3) package.

The core qualification has 8 compulsory units totalling 56 credits;
  • the Civil Works and Utilities endorsement requires a minimum of 25 credits from the list of unit standards provided.
  • the Wastewater (and Stormwater) endorsement has 5 compulsory units totalling 19 credits and an elective section which requires one unit taken from the options listed;
  • the Water endorsement has 5 compulsory units totalling 23 credits and an elective section which requires one unit taken from the options listed.

2.   Level 4 Supervisory Package
Core Compulsory

All the standards listed below are required. This equals 56 credits.

Core Elective
A minimum of 25 credits is required. A maximum of 10 credits at levels 3 to 5 may be selected from the Civil Infrastructure Health, Safety, and Environment domain. The units below were identified by the industry advisory group as the most appropriate for the role but these are only a selection of the ones available. The shaded units are the most highly recommended options to meet this requirement for water and wastewater reactive maintenance supervisors
